The TriSystem Sports Nutritionist

     All TriSystem Sports Nutritionists are Licensed through the NASN. 

Typical meetings with our sports nutritionists occur every week or two, lasting 45 minutes and include:

Application of a plan to move their client from where they are to their goal. This includes program manipulation and progress assessment in order to prevent the onset of plateaus and provide changes that influence program adherence.

Your Personal SPORTS NUTRITIONIST adjusts menus, workouts and supplements. He or she has the experience to give you proven hints and suggestions that make all the difference.

  • Body composition update and progression (LBM, FM,).
  • Program adherence, customization and adaptation.
  • Exercise progression / new routine development (frequency, intensity, duration and type).
  • Food menu adaptation / new menu development (calories, ratios of nutrients, meal frequency, excluding known allergies and dislikes).
  • Related topic discussion, valid new research discussion.

In order to be licensed through the National Association of Sports Nutrition the following criteria must be met:

1. At least two years experience as a certified health professional directly involved in nutritional counseling, health promotion or healthcare. This includes all regulated health disciplines, such as certified holistic health practitioners, certified personal trainers and certified fitness instructors.

or

2. An associate or baccalaureate degree in nutrition or equivalent science/health degree and one year experience as a certified health professional directly involved in nutritional counseling, health promotion or healthcare.

or

3. An advanced professional degree in a healthcare field that incorporates a four year degree with sufficient science and nutrition hours. 

Our Sports NutritionistsSM are Proficient in:

1. BODY COMPOSITION TESTING

  • proper protocol for various methods

  • assessing fat free mass

  • statistical averages

  • assessing fat mass

  • estimating essential and nonessential fat mass

2. METABOLIC EVALUATION

  • determining daily calorie requirements

  • determining average daily calorie intake

  • classifying hypo or hyper- metabolism

  • determining medical history and conditions

3. MENU DEVELOPMENT

  • meal size.

  • nutrient requirements

  • frequency and time span between meals

  • prohibitive medical conditions

4. EXERCISE METABOLISM

  • eating around exercise

  • aerobic and anaerobic principles

They are very familiar with:

  • anatomy

  • biomechanics

  • structure & function of muscles

  • muscle groups

  • joint actions

  • appropriate exercise selection

  • cardiovascular fitness tests

  • muscular strength and endurance tests

  • flexibility and low back strength evaluation

  • blood pressure

  • developing programs based on evaluation
